Renting FAQs

How do I find out what is currently available?

Check the live listing feed and contact the salesperson named on the listing to confirm availability, viewing arrangements and application steps. The leased-results archive shows past rentals and is not a current availability list.

What should I check at a viewing?

Compare the home with the listing, ask about the tenancy term, rent, included chattels, parking, access, water and wastewater where relevant, and the best way to raise maintenance issues. For a rural address, verify the route, services and mobile/internet coverage for yourself.

What can I be asked to provide in an application?

Use the current form for the property and provide information relevant to assessing the tenancy. Tenancy Services explains pre-tenancy applications and personal information.

When is a bond paid and refunded?

Follow the written agreement and official bond process. Check whether the bond has been lodged and retain receipts and records. At the end, the refund depends on the agreement between the parties and any amount properly owed. Read current guidance at bond and bond refunds.

Can I keep a pet?

Pet rules changed on 1 December 2025. Check the current Tenancy Services rules and the property’s agreement before keeping a pet or asking for consent: pet guidance.

Who handles repairs after I move in?

Ray White Mangawhai does not provide ongoing property management. Use the landlord or manager details in your tenancy agreement and follow its reporting process. Tenancy Services explains general repair responsibilities.

These answers are general information, not legal advice. Check current official guidance for your tenancy and address.
